Nature and history abound at the 27-acre Capilano Suspension Bridge Park, just minutes from the bustle of downtown Vancouver. Set within the unique environment of British Columbia’s cedar-scented rainforest, the Capilano Suspension Bridge, Treetops Adventure, and brand new Cliffwalk allow you to delve into nature’s beauty while kicking up the adrenaline.

Originally built in 1889, the 450 foot long Capilano Suspension Bridge soars 230 feet above the Capilano River and is your gateway to the forest beyond. Take your time crossing this magnificent structure while enjoying the spectacular view of the canyon and river below.

Upon reaching the other side, discover the Treetops Adventure, a series of interconnected suspension bridges that travel high above the forest floor through the lush evergreen foliage of towering Douglas firs. Viewing platforms nestled into the tree canopy give you a squirrel’s eye view of a thriving coastal forest.

But for a real thrill, the awe-inspiring Cliffwalk is not to be missed. This amazing walkway juts out from the granite cliff of Capilano Canyon and takes guests to areas of the park that were previously unexplored. High and narrow, Cliffwalk is not for the feint of heart. A series of cantilevered, suspended walkways hug the face of the cliff.

Beyond these main activities, there are plenty of ways to explore the rich history and unique ecosystem of the park. Interactive displays and informative panels offer insight into the forest’s ecology with fun facts and identification clues. Guided history tours are offered hourly and are a great way to learn about the park’s colorful past. A stroll through majestic evergreens and past tranquil ponds with one of the park’s naturalists is a fantastic way to learn about the flora and fauna of the old-growth rain forest and discovery the mysteries of this unique Vancouver environment.

Keep Your Cookies Secure and Watch Out for Squirrels

After years of visiting Canada yet never the Capilano Suspension Bridge, I finally made the plunge after clearing Canadian customs. The park is well kept and really for a Friday mid morning, not to crowded. I enjoyed walking at my own pace and enough of the time various paths were clear enough to get shots without a stranger in the pic. My favorite was the Tree Top Adventure, greatly enjoyed walking amongst the treetops. I did notice the squirrels are a bit forward. One stole my cookie after I'd sat to have a sip of water. This was after it approached my table, scampered around quickly sniffing about and then just pushing it's head into the cookie package. Then it ran off with the entire cookie while other guests took pictures. I finished up with lunch at the Cliff House, had the Quinoa salad which was quite nice and visited the gift shop. I had the brownie to-go from the Cliff House to make up for my stolen cookie.

such a nice place to spend time with! the bridge is slightly swaying with light winds but for those who are not that fear of heights, won't be a problem at all since the bridge looks pretty stable n safe to me

A must do if your Vancouver! For real. We came a day where it was rainy, but personally it was peaceful and not crowded at all which was perfect picture wise. I totally recommend for a chill day in the nature.

It was raining so we kind of rushed ourselves through, but well worth the visit. The free shuttle from Canada place was great and we learnt some history of Vancouver at the same time!
