Return Details

Returns to original departure point
Your tour starts with afternoon pickup from your hotel and transfer by van to the dog sled headquarters. Your guide shares a brief overview of dog mushing, then takes you out to meet the furry stars of the team. Your guides introduce you to some of the more than 90 dogs and answer questions about the canine athletes.

Watch as your guide gets the dog team harnessed up, then step into your sled for your ride into the wilderness. The all-weather sled is equipped with comfortable padded seats and tires for warmer conditions. Have time for photo ops of Alaska's natural beauty and the dogs at work as you ride through the woods.

After your sled ride, return to the kennel area to see the adorable puppies. Have time to play with the husky pups and pose for photos. Then learn about the supplies needed for the Iditarod, and watch a demonstration about harnesses, training, and race strategy for the dogs.

Your tour ends with return transfer to your hotel in Seward.

This is a professional-family oriented activity. We learned about Alaskan huskies, their pups, their high protein meals and their training! The Seavey family has won the Iditarod off and on for several generations! The sled ride was fun and the musher informative on the ride! Good luck in this year’s race!

The Seavey Family opens up their world to all who visit and want to learn about their special breed of dogs and what it takes to compete and compete the Iditarod Race. The summer weather was perfect to get up close and personal to the mushers and their wonderful sled dogs. Time with the puppies was priceless. The pictures and memories that we took away will stick with us forever.
