At the Seward Small Boat Harbor, step aboard a 95-foot-long (29-meter) non-smoking cruise vessel designed with comfort in mind. During your cruise, you'll cover 100 miles (160 km) round-trip. You don't have to worry about food during this trip — enjoy an onboard lunch and delicious dinner at a lodge on Fox Island.

Learn about the evolving geology of the Harding Icefield, which dates back to the ice age and forms the steep fjords. Keep your camera out for the wildlife that you’re likely to see at peak season, which may include minke whales, orcas, and humpbacks, as well as porpoises, sea otters, and harbor seals.

Admire the jagged icy cliffs along the Kenai Peninsula, fjords and calving glaciers — from inside the warm and spacious cabin equipped with seating and large picture windows, or from the multi-level observation decks. Enjoy a fast cruising speed, with extra time to photograph the amazing scenery.

Catch sight of migratory seabirds that nest in the Kenai Fjords, as well as other native flora and fauna. Watch puffins dive underwater and view the rookeries of more than 18 other bird species in the Alaska Maritime National Wildlife Refuge.

Your voyage ends back at the Seward port.

Kenai Fjords National Park
In Kenai Fjords National Park, over half of the landmass is covered by the enormous Harding Icefield, a thousand-foot block of ice that dates back to the last Ice Age. The Harding spills out in all directions in the form of glaciers. Some stretch northwest into rugged hills of the Kenai Peninsula. Others—five of them, to be exact—reach as far as the sea along the craggy coast of the Gulf of Alaska.

Not kid or special needs friendly food is not edible
, Aug 2021
Not kid friendly. Not handicapped friendly. They make people with handicapped kids sit out in the cold while everyone else gets to sit inside where it is warm. Face mask rules not enforced. If you have special needs or kids or believe these type of people have equal rights please avoid this place at all costs. I requested a refund.

Captain Emma and crew did a wonderful job! We saw humpback and Killer Whales, Sea Lions, Otter, and we were taken up close to see and hear the Glacier calving, we saw a variety of Sea birds and stunning views of the Kenai Fjords. The Salmon dinner on Fox Island was delicious! This trip was the highlight of our year! We highly recommend going on the Alaskan Explorer!

Viator agent did not make the rearrangements he said he would take care of.
, Aug 2021
We had some travel issues and contacted Viator. They worked with the cruise company and Viator agent said he made arrangements to move to the next day. He also said he would send a confirmation. We never received the confirmation, so we checked with the cruise company the night before and we were not on the ships manifest for the tour. The cruise company signed us up for a shorter tour than what we actually paid for.
Looking for Otters and Whales

Very confortable indoor seating and viewing area. Enjoyed the views and commentary. Food and drinks were good. Restrooms were adequate. Could use some modifications but not sure that is possible. Wish we could have had a better look at the wild life but when they are not out, they are not out.
Tweens even enjoyed!!
