After morning pickup at select locations in Phoenix or Scottsdale, relax on your drive through the Sonora Desert, en route to some of the American Southwest's most beautiful highlights.

Your drive brings you through the expansive Sonoran Desert filled with the native saguaro cactus. The scenery begins to change as you increase in elevation and views of the cactus fade into pine trees. As you continue further into northern Arizona, travel the outskirts of the Route 66 town of Flagstaff and from the highway, see the San Francisco Peaks among the seemingly endless Ponderosa Pine Forest, one of the largest contiguous forests of ponderosa pines in the world.

Williams is the first stop along the tour for a chance to experience Route 66, the iconic American highway steeped in rich tradition.

Your van climbs up to 6,000 feet (1,800 meters) before you reach your first stopping point in Grand Canyon National Park. Expect ample time to explore the features around the deepest and widest part of the canyon, which measures 277 miles (445 km) in length. Visit the El Tovar Hotel and Hopi House in Grand Canyon Village, multiple scenic lookout points along the East Rim Drive, and have time to shop, go for a walk, grab lunch (own expense), and visit cultural exhibits along the rim.

Your tour ends in the evening upon your return to your starting point in the Phoenix-Scottsdale area.

Traveled to AZ for my birthday just to visit the Canyon. The day tour was exactly what I needed. Our Tour Guide, Malcolm was great...I traveled solo, but the group on this trip was awesome! We had the perfect amount of time to do everything! Bucket List item ✔

Jason was a fantastic tour guide. He has so much information about Arizona, and answered all our questions, including really random ones that were outside of the scope of the tour. The best guide ever.

The tour began at our hotel door. Our tour guide (Jason) was prompt and friendly. From the onset Jason kept us entertained and informed with knowledge of the Arizona landscape and culture. This tour offers several stops and build intrigue to the final destination. I am so happy we decided to take this tour because the knowledge we learned help us really appreciate seeing the Grand Canyon even more. If you are visiting the state and always wanted to see the Grand Canyon take this tour. You will not be disappointed.

From the moment we pick you up to the moment we drop you off, our guides show off their passion for guiding our guests around the Southwest! We always say the difference between going to the Grand Canyon yourself and with a guide is like night and day. Thank you for sharing your experience! We hope in the future we have an opportunity to show you around once again. Best, Nathan

Nice trip…value not priced accordingly
Glenna_C

The overall trip was fine. The Grand Canyon visit was a beautiful experience. A bit annoying that we couldn’t be refunded the price for the entry fee as the park was free to the public on the federal holiday. Reached out to the agency and was refused a partial refund. Can’t say that the price was worth the experience. In hindsight, we could have driven ourselves.

Hello Glenna, We are glad you enjoyed the beauty of the Grand Canyon. We have many costs and fees that we pay annually for permits, etc, so this is why we keep the ticket price the same, whether or not it is free admission that day. We do hope you found value in your guide and the fact that you did not have to drive and could focus on the scenery and commentary. Thank you for choosing DETOURS. Best, Rachel Bass Reservations Manager

It was great to see how excited my mother-in-law was to see the Grand Canyon for the very first time. The tour guide, Steve, made our experience very enjoyable. My husband, daughter, mother-in-law and I will cherish our memories of this tour.
