Returns to original departure point
This day outing is perfect for food lovers and those seeking an all-inclusive Alaskan experience. Enjoy hotel pickup in downtown Juneau, and then head over to Mendenhall Glacier, a glacier that stretches approximately 12 miles (19 km) long. Learn about its formation from the visitor's center.

Continue to Auke Bay for your whale-watching cruise. The extra-large windows and exterior observation deck of the 48-passenger jet boat give you prime vantage points to spot humpback whales. Hear about the surrounding geology and marine life from your naturalist guide on board.

Back on land, settle in for an all-you-can-eat Alaskan salmon bake, with traditional menu items that typically include grilled salmon, Tongass wild-rice pilaf, cheechako chicken, Chilkoot baked beans, White Pass pasta, salads, beverages, and a mouthwatering selection of other side dishes. (Beer and wine are available for purchase.) Finish off your meal with blueberry cake for dessert.

You’ll also get to see a Tlingit Master Carver and his son at work. Watch as they carve into 10-foot-tall (3-meter-tall) cedar totem poles and fashion silver jewelry. Gain insight into their craft and Tlingit culture, and then perhaps purchase unique works of art as souvenirs from the gift shop.

Your 6-hour experience ends with a relaxing drive back to your hotel in Juneau.

Stop At:
Auke Bay
From Mendenhall Glacier, we’ll take you to Auke Bay where you’ll board our state-of-the-art, 48-passenger jet boat custom designed for Juneau whale watching. It has extra-large windows, and an outside viewing deck. Juneau has a healthy humpback whale population with some 65 whales returning each season to feed in the nutrient-rich waters, and our boat captains are experts at locating them. We guarantee whale sightings; if there are no whales during your cruise, we'll refund $100 to each adult and $50 for children. Your captain will let you know when whales are spotted, but it’s likely you'll first hear a collective chorus of "Oohhs!" and "Ahhs!" from your fellow adventurers as they witness a giant humpback suddenly breach. Binoculars are available for your use onboard. Venture out on the deck to enjoy a panoramic view of your surroundings or to take a photo, or settle into your warm, comfortable interior surroundings to enjoy the scenery and wildlife sightings through the oversized windows.

Good but overpriced

We had fun whale watching. The tour guide and captain were very nice and accommodating. Even saw whales jumping out of the water. We had about an hour at Mendenhall Glacier, the highlight of the trip for me. It's so beautiful and the weather was nice and clear for great picture taking. The salmon bake was delicious! I thought it was overpriced for the whole tour but if you can afford it, then you should do it.

Great day in Juneau. Got very lucky with the weather, and saw loads of Humpbacks. Captain Tom and guide/naturalist Sarah were great as was guide Juneau Jeff. Another half hour at the glacier would have been nice but a great day overall. Well worth the price.

great way to spend your day in Juneau. After not spotting any whales for 1 hour, our guides were determined to show us a good time - we saw mating sea lions, and then, through their determination we changed location and spotted a whale! Salmon bake was delicious, with very nice staff.

Very slow getting off ship due to poorly organized tendering. Whale watch disappointing saw spouts of four whales total, but only two of them surfaced and none breached. Saw more from the cruise ship on return toward Seattle. Salmon bake was fair at best, much better many years ago at Rotary Club bake in Fairbanks. Mendenhall Glacier was nice. Guides were average.
