This Grand Canyon tour begins

in the town of Tusayan, AZ. Travel to Grand Canyon National Park and stop at the National Geographic Visitor Center’s IMAX Theater to watch the film entitled, “Grand Canyon: the Movie,” an entertainment experience unlike any other. Being here, inside the movie, is as good as being there, in the Grand Canyon, on a screen that’s over six stories tall with 12,000 watts of earth-shaking, digital surround sound power.

The featured film is a journey over, around, and through the Grand Canyon. Explore all 277 miles with the mysterious Anasazi tribe, ancestors of the modern Pueblo Indians, who inhabited the canyon 4,000 years ago, and John Wesley Powell, famous for his exploration of the canyon and the raging Colorado River in 1869. Then fly like an eagle over the rim and swoop into the depths of the canyon, complete with a whitewater rafting trip down the raging Colorado River below.

Following the movie, choose from three different Jeep tours—a daytime adventure and two sunset options. The daytime tour runs provide plenty of scheduling flexibility while the sunset tours are a bit more limited on timings.

On the daytime tour, ride from the East Rim to the South Rim and soak up the scenery at various lookout points, including the Desert View Watchtower, a 70-foot-high stone building that serves as the highest point on the South Rim. On a clear day, see more than 100 miles into the distance. Along the way, learn about the history of the Grand Canyon and the geologic forces that helped to create it. Also, find out about the various people that inhabited and explored the canyon, as far back as 4,000 years ago.

On the sunset tour, enjoy the same style of travel and sightseeing as the daytime tour, with the added bonus of an incredible Grand Canyon sunset to top off the day. Choose from two departure times each highlighted by a breathtaking sunset—an exhilarating palette of colors exploding across the canyon's giant rock cliffs. Look on in amazement as the shadows cover the gorges and canyon walls in rich orange, rust, and red colors.

The tour ends with a return trip to the town of Tusayan for a hotel drop-off.

Rick was an excellent guide! We (ages 8-71) thoroughly enjoyed our morning tour. Our 11 year old grandson insisted on buying a Pink Jeep Tour hat so his friends will ask him all about it.
Nice views, cold ride home, long walk to and from hotel

I can’t go above 2 stars because of such a poor ending and long walk to the pickup. The operator’s driver picks you up a long 35 minute walk, 2 miles from the yavapai lodge at the el tovar hotel. We didn’t have a car because we rode the train in and stayed 3 nights so we booked a guided tour. Extremely inconvenient. Then drove past my hotel for the east rim tour. Was about 5 or 6 stops about 30 miles out. Some views were quite spectacular. The driver Maddie was friendly, lively and knowledgeable. All of the sites you can access by car if you have one. Nothing off road in a big 4 wheel drive pink jeep that holds 8 people. You must wear a mask in this open jeep too. Then the long cold ride back and being dropped so far from the hotel. We were on our honeymoon and my wife had to walk 35 minutes down the dark road back to the resort we passed on the way back. Dangerous with cars flying by at top speed on entrance road. The operator/owner knows the blue national park service shuttle line isn’t functional and was well aware that customers would be left this way. I wouldn’t suggest this experience because the end was so poor walking down a dark road about 2 miles with unknown wildlife create uncertainty. Could have easily picked us up and dropped us off without any extra effort. The movie is handed out to each customer to watch when you have access to a DVD player . Avoid

Amazing views, very informative. Sam was a great tour guide. Had a real knack for showing us the best views and went out of his way to take photos of us and inform us of what makes the Grand Canyon so grand.
Nice Tour

Our guide, Jack, was excellent and we enjoyed the tour. However, had we known where we were going to stop we wouldn't have gone to a number of those places on our own earlier in the day. We also found the side facing seats not as comfortable as forward facing because you have to constantly turn around to see a lot of things or you don't see a lot.
Great experience

We loved our guide Haley. She was very knowledgeable and shared lots of info. We had a beautiful sunset. It was really cold when we were there in February.
Great tour.
