The Basics

Vancouver Chinatown is one of Vancouver’s most distinctive and fascinating neighborhoods, one that’s a rewarding place to eat, shop, and wander. Explore as part of food tours, which not only show off key landmarks such as the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden, but also include tastings of barbecue meats, dim sum, tea, and other Chinese delicacies. Many walking tours and bike tours pass through Chinatown and neighboring Gastown; hop-on hop-off buses and sightseeing coach tours also make stops here.

A thorough cultural tour
This tour taught us a lot about the history of Chinese Canadians. This was more of a cultural tour than a good tour, but was very educational.

We had a wonderful tour of Vancouver Chinatown with Robert. He is so knowledgeable, passionate and friendly. It is truly one of the best tours we had in vacation. A special mention for the visit at the Chinese garden and all the excellent food that we discovered with Robert. My husband and I are highly recommended this tour!

Vancouver City Hop-on Hop-off Tour
Well priced and thorough. We did the entire loop and then visited areas that were highlights for us afterwards. Very comfortable clean bus with knowledgeable and courteous bus. We always do a hop on hop off bus tour when visiting a new city. aviator has never disappointed in this type of tour or others we have tried. Excellent company!!

I would highly recommend A Wok Around Chinatown with Bob to everyone. I learned history of Chinatown and Chinese philosophy, culture and food. This was the best tour I have taken anywhere regarding Chinese culture. Bob is so knowledgeable that he brings history to life. To experience history and culture as it relates to food was amazing. Thank you Bob for making our trip to Vancouver memorable.

Vancouver City Hop-on Hop-off Tour
This was well worth the time and cost! The park tour was great and lasted about 2 hours. The city tour was 1 hour. Wonderful introduction to the city! Good way to spend a few hours when the weather is a bit cold! Bus driver was the guide and he did a great job.

When we visit a city our preferred way...

Small-Group Afternoon Bike Tour of Vancouver
When we visit a city our preferred way of seeing it is a bike tour led by a local who knows and loves the city - you get their insight and perspective, so much more depth than you would otherwise. Jeremy was an excellent guide friendly, relaxed and very informative. He was also very attentive in giving detailed information about how we would proceed so there was never any doubt, for example, in traffic about what to do. It helped that we had a beautiful day of sunshine with a slight breeze - perfect.

Chinatown’s Must-See Sights

Probably the most photographed landmark in Vancouver’s Chinatown is the Chinatown Millennium Gate, a lion-guarded gate that marks the entrance to the district. And although it’s small, the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden and adjacent park, which includes a pagoda and koi pond, serves as a peaceful sanctum—the perfect hideaway from the busy streets.
