The Basics

Between the visitor center’s IMAX Theater experience and its many interactive exhibits, you could spend all day at the Grand Canyon without ever leaving the visitor center. But, when you are ready to explore the canyon itself, take advantage of the resources at the National Geographic Visitor Center to plan a self-guided trip or join a guided tour of the canyon.

You can opt for a Jeep tour that starts out with an IMAX movie before heading to the East Rim of the canyon. Or, if you are visiting the canyon from Las Vegas, book a bus tour that includes a stop at the National Geographic Visitor Center and the chance to watch the IMAX movie before you enter the park.

Disappointed but satisfied

Grand Canyon South Rim Bus Tour with Optional Upgrades
The bus was NOT luxury. Tight leg room for average person. Disappointed with no stop at Hoover Dam. I should have been informed ahead. Happy with both drivers, Tony and Ashley. Ashley did great when we blew a tire. Overall satisfied but will make sure I have better company for tour next time.

Please know that the trip Is 15 hours total. We were picked up at 7:15am and back to the hotel almost at 1:00am. Phil was our driver and he was amazing. He was very knowledgeable and had a great personality. So glad that he got him. The view of the Grand Canyon was amazing.

Grand Canyon IMAX Movie
Although the movie was fantastic the meal we paid for was not what we expected. The website we bought the tickets still had rice bowls as an option but when we got there to view the movie at 2:30pm they told us due to covid they can't offer that item. Although I understand the only other real option was pizza BUT they closed at 3pm which was passed the time we would get out of the movie. The young man taking tickets did apologize and took our order for 2 veggie pizzas and made it right once we got out. Our reserved pizza was given to a couple just before us so they did make us fresh ones even though they had closed. That was a plus. So just beware that things change at the site but may not be updated on the website. Thus the 4 star rating instead of 5.

Grand Canyon South Rim Bus Tour with Optional Upgrades
The driver, Rod and Susan, the guide were wonderful. Very informative. Bus ride was long but fine. For the money, A GREAT VALUE. Highly recommend. Not having to drive to the Canyon was a pleasure as all I had to do was sit back and enjoy.

Beauty, but how about more narration?

3-Day National Parks Tour from Las Vegas: Grand Canyon, Zion and Bryce Canyon
The hotels were fine, stops were well timed, bus was comfortable. Would have liked more narration during the drives since it was all unfamiliar, as well as guided tour options at the canyons. Manuel and Dino were great guides.

Small group Grand Canyon Tour from Las Vegas

Small-Group Grand Canyon South Rim Deluxe Tour from Las Vegas
It's a long drive, but well worth the trip. If you have limited time to see the canyon, this is a great choice. Leave the driving through the desert to these experienced drivers. Included breakfast & lunch (nothing fancy but very adequate) stops at Hoover Dam, Lake Mead, nice IMAX film at the visitors center, and stops at 3 different viewing spots at the canyon. Our guide was very informative and kept everyone on schedule to maximize our time at each stop. Even showed a movie in the Mercedes Sprinter Van on the drive back to Vegas. All in all, a long, but fantastic day.

Grand Canyon South Rim Bus Tour with Optional Upgrades
You will need to call the day prior to get your pickup time and location. We were picked up on time from a hotel near ours on the strip at 7:35 am. We were the last to be picked up and the last to be dropped off at 10:00 pm that evening. The lunch is a choice of personal pan pizza, pasta or premade sandwich with choice of side which is chips, cookie, side salad, yogurt, or pasta salad and a drink. There are 2 stops to view the canyon and they are each about 45 minutes in length. The remainder of the tour is spent traveling on the bus. The views are incredible. Our driver was Lucien and he was very knowledgeable but also very ready to retire from this gig as he let us all know several times. He drove us the majority of the day and a relief driver named Ashley was the driver for the last couple hours of the trip. She was very nice but stayed on the phone talking to a coworker driving the bus behind us for the entire duration of the drive. They were talking about their personal lives without any discretion. She honked the horn and cursed at other drivers on the strip during drop offs. Not professional at all. This tour was inexpensive overall and I guess you get what you pay for.

3-Day National Parks Tour from Las Vegas: Grand Canyon, Zion and Bryce Canyon
Roberto was a great guide. Just wish we had more time at Zion. Initially we were to get back to Vegas between 7 and 8. Arrived at 3:30 so we could have spent more time at the park that morning.. Also might have been able to fly home that night instead of spending money for another night's hotel stay. Tour itself was wonderful-especially the Lake Powell boat ride.
